The made in Italy shoes and sneakers company is named after the Italian cowboys, the butteri, who roamed the hills in our region with their horses, Tuscany. But we are a modern brand. Founded in 1974 by Mauro Sani, who set out to make the best riding boots in the world, Buttero remains owned and run by the Sani family: three generations working together to create unique handcrafted shoes.

Keeping alive the traditions of Tuscan shoemaking is the core of our business. Our shoes are made by expert artisans who are the best at what they do. We proudly preserved our handmade crafting process from the very beginning.

We are sure that you could wear your Butteros all day, every day, season after season - we use the best local vegetable-tanned leathers, which age beautifully.

Buttero is now run by founder Mauro's children and grandchildren. Growing up, the first word spoken by Mauro's children, after "mum" and "dad", was "Buttero".
