Buttero shoes are built on traditional Italian lasts and finished by hand in Tuscany. They're made to last years — which means getting the fit right from day one matters more than it would with footwear you'll replace in a season.
Here's everything you need to know before you order.
How Buttero Sizing Works
Every Buttero model uses European sizing. If you already know your EU size, that's your starting point. If you're coming from US or UK sizing, use the chart below as a reference — then read the fit notes for each model, since the feel changes with the construction.
| EU | UK Men | US Men | US Women |
|---|---|---|---|
| 38 | 5 | 6 | 8 |
| 39 | 6 | 7 | 9 |
| 40 | 6.5 | 7.5 | 9.5 |
| 41 | 7 | 8 | 10 |
| 42 | 8 | 9 | 11 |
| 43 | 9 | 10 | 12 |
| 44 | 9.5 | 10.5 | — |
| 45 | 10.5 | 11.5 | — |
| 46 | 11 | 12 | — |
Fit Notes by Model
Buttero builds each model on a specific last, so the fit isn't uniform across the range. Here's what to expect.
Tanino
Buttero's most iconic sneaker runs wide. We recommend sizing down two full sizes from what you'd wear in a technical sportswear sneaker. The vegetable-tanned leather upper will still conform to your foot with wear, but start from the smaller size.
Floyd
The Floyd boot sits on a slightly wider last and runs true to size for most feet. If your foot is narrow, go down half a size.
Annie
Built on a women's last with a slightly tapered toe box, the Annie runs true to European sizing. If your foot is wider, go up half a size for comfort.
Burro
The Burro loafer sits on a relaxed last and runs true to size — comfortable from day one, with or without socks.
Argentario
A classic derby on a straight last. Runs true to size. Pair it with thin socks for a closer fit, or go up half a size if you prefer more room.
Vegetable Tanned Leather and Break-In
Every Buttero model uses vegetable-tanned leather — a material that stiffens in the cold and softens with body heat and use. If a new pair feels snug in the first few wears, that's normal. After five to ten wears, the leather will have shaped itself to your foot.
A tight fit on day one becomes your fit by week two. A loose fit on day one stays loose.
How to Measure Your Foot
Measure in the evening — feet expand through the day. Place your foot flat on a sheet of paper, trace the outline, and measure the longest point from heel to toe in centimetres. Compare that to the length for each EU size below.
| EU | Foot length (cm) |
|---|---|
| 38 | 24.3 |
| 39 | 25.0 |
| 40 | 25.7 |
| 41 | 26.3 |
| 42 | 27.0 |
| 43 | 27.7 |
| 44 | 28.3 |
| 45 | 29.0 |
