From Sketch to Step
Most brands draw a shoe and send it away. We never let it leave.
Every Buttero is thought, cut, stitched and built under one roof the same one since 1974.
Nothing is outsourced, nothing is left to chance. It's slower this way.
We prefer it.
Before it's a shoe, it's a hide, chosen a few kilometres from where we work.
We source our leathers in Tuscany, premium and first-choice, season after season, because the best things tend to be the closest ones.
Keeping it local means a lighter footprint and a local craft economy that keeps its know-how alive. For us the raw material isn't a detail. It's the whole beginning.
A pair of Buttero passes through many hands and many steps, each one needing a craft that took years to learn and is passed on by working side by side.
We don't just employ artisans, we grow with them.
Skills are handed down, sharpened, kept.
The shoe gets better because the people making it do.
Here's the thing about leather chosen and tanned this way: it doesn't wear out, it wears in. Tone deepens, marks settle, the surface picks up a patina that's only yours.
That's not a feature we added, it's chemistry, written into the hide. We build the shoe. You finish it, just by living in it.
